STEAM & DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE CREST : LATER (1956) STYLE. LARGE 1111mm (43.75 inches) wide x 550mm (21.5 inches) high approx.
This design supplanted the 'Cycling Lion' in the mid 1950s. Originally there was, in common with the 'Cycling Lion', a right facing version as well. However, the College of Heralds objected on the grounds that reversal of an heraldic device is not permissible. The right facing version officially died a quiet death but actually remained on some engines until the end of mainline steam. Fox Transfers have no ideas of reproducing the right facing version!
