GNR GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY All GNR locomotives from the early 1880s to the end of 1922 (green livery) except as provided for by FRH2391. Tender Lettering (1.5mm x 18.25mm) and Loco Numbering and lettering (including shading 3mm high) plus Bufferbeams 0.9mm high.
More info - Gold lettering was used with the two-tone green livery lined white-black-white for all locomotives, passenger, freight and shunting, from the early 1880s until 1912. In that year grey livery with white lining and white lettering shaded in black was introduced as an economy measure for goods and shunting locomotives and this was extended to all locomotives at the outbreak of war in 1914.
Then from 1918 until the Grouping in 1923 the lined green livery was reintroduced but at a slow rate so a number of grey engines were still unrepainted at the time the LNER took them over.
